The PAST
of Dark Ramoth
The gold dragon Ramoth found herself in the realm of
the GDI quite by accident. She was traveling, searching for a place
to call home, a place to find others of her kind and to be happy.
She has no memory of the time before she began her journey. It seemed
to her as if she had been traveling forever when she spotted The Green
Dragon Inn, nestled among the forest and hills, along one of mankind's
traveling roads. When she visited it in the guise of a human woman,
she quickly made friends, enemies, and observations about the patrons
of the Inn.
A few weeks later, she began searching for a permanent
lair, flying to distant mountains from the Inn itself, for too many
dragons visited the Inn. She did not wish any strange dragons to find
her lair unannounced. High upon a volcanic mountain, half shrouded
in mist and clouds in all but the sunniest of days, she found a natural
cavern, filled with fissures and pathways to other caverns. Using
the magic skills that all dragons possess, she smoothed out the crude
edges of the natural cavern, and formed what has become her secret retreat,
the hidden mountain Lair she has periodically retreated to during times of
recuperation from the life she leads as Lady of the Magi in the volatile mortal world.
All the vampires were wary of her, for one time during
her early weeks at the Inn, she had been been caught by surprise when attacked by a psychopathic male
vampire. For weeks afterwards, the vampires she met felt her wrath,
and gave up their undead souls to her rage. Sorrow and she had an
uneasy truce. They wouldn't fight, and they wouldn't argue, they would
just be. And suprisingly they got along.
It was her very willingness to battle even him, when
she thought his fiancee needed her help, that he noticed her and
assessed her. Deeming her as worthy, he expressed his gratitude
for her concern for his fiancee by giving her a gift. She
took the gift willingly, unknowingly giving him part of her very
soul in exchange (for that is the nature of all gifts when it comes
to the Dark). This was during her begining months at the Inn.
There came a time when, by the one called RedWyrm,
she faced her own death, and went struggling to meet it. Weeks
later, she awoke again, lying in the forest, her body and soul and
mind bruised and battered, but for some reason without a mark to
mar them. This was the power of the Darkest Prince, and the
secret to the gift he had given her. She took on the full
name of Dark Ramoth, after this episode. By adding Dark to
her name, she hoped to show her appreciation to Darkest Prince for
his gift. Since that first look at death, Dark Ramoth has
faced it many times, and each time awakens weeks later, unsure of
what exactly happened. And each time she awakens, the Light
must struggle harder to get her to fight on its side, and the Dark
seems more and more attractive. But for now she resides in
the shadows, half Light, half Dark, using her powers to serve that
which she deems needing it.
This led, years ago from present day, to the time when Dark Ramoth was approached
by this same vampire, Sorrow. She was offered "an opportunity" as
Sorrow put it. She could become childe of him, join his growing
family. He wanted strong childer, strong fighters in his bloodline.
He spoke to her of the many benefits vampirism would give her. And
she considered long and hard....
....before agreeing.
So, Dark Ramoth became half vampire. She enjoyed the taste of the darkness,
but mixed as it was with the soul of the demon she carried in her locket, it soon overtook her, both
the vampire and demon within. This led to a dark time in her life, during which she more closely resembled Sakura
and led to the competition between the two, beyond their previous polarity of light & dark. Eventually, she became able
to recognize the sickness within, and took long, struggling and dangerous steps to remove the cursed vampiric disease from
her mind, body and soul. She only became marginally successful with the help
of her trusted friend and genius, Gwydion. For a time, she retained the benefits
of vampire-unlife, and none of its disadvantages, save the stake thru
the heart penalty. This led to a decidedly double personality, one in which she was controlled and good,
the other during which she was chaos personified, with the rage bubbling over.
But during another period of time, during which her daughters began to grow more quickly,
she endeavored to further remove the taint totally from her soul.
Marauder... Since Dark Ramoth's appearance in the Inn,
Marauder has been a close friend of hers. He is her brother, at least
as close to being a brother as he can be without there being any shared
blood between them. He has developed a psychological worry about Dark
Ramoth, and her constant battling. The reason is that the first time
she died, he had to stand by and watch and could do nothing to prevent
it.
To this day, he'll go after her if he thinks she's risking
herself foolishly. To prevent this, she did something that she has
done with few.. she bonded herself to him. This bond is similar to
the bond that exists between an Aes Sedai and her Warder (Robert Jordan
reference). Needless to say, since Marauder is immortal, so is she,
for the bond ties their lives together. Their hurts are shared, along
with their feelings and thoughts
Now is Marauder's most trying part of his life. The
death of his wife and children affected him deeply. Dark Ramoth spends
her time worrying about the one she calls friend. He seems to think
that his purpose is to prevent her from getting her own self killed.
And she humors him, since it keeps him there in the land of the living.
